*99# on Motorola Razor V3

Recently I got my Sony Ericsson Z600 connecting to GPRS using DUN on
my laptop and the *99# method.

Ultimately on my phone *98*3# worked fine.

I'm now trying to get my daughter's new Motorola Razor V3 to connect
using the same method.

I've tried various permutations substituting 3 with 2,1 and leaving it
out altogether, I've put in extra * but each attempt fails.

Anyone connected with this Mororola?

You need to use the phone tools software that came with the phone. I
tried for hours to get it to work without, but it was having none of it.
When using the phone tools it worked first time.

Thanks for info, I've asked my daughter to bring the CD over and I'll
have a look.

Thanks Jon, got the CD and now it works fine; I'm going to investigate
the modem log to see why my manual DUN settings were not working,
curiosity now.

Although not aimed at Windows, you may find some clues at
http://www.eridani.co.uk/docs/linux-timeport/T280.shtml - written
originally for my T280, the stuff in it is still applicable to my V500 and
V545 (of which the V3 is a close relative). Ignore the stuff about the
kernel patch, but the dial script contains everything needed to get on
with Orange. I suspect you need to use a AT+CGDCONT command in your modem
initialisation string, with the appropriate APN for your carrier.

http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html contains the details for O2, Vodafone,
Orange, T-Mobile, Tesco, Virgin and BT Mobile.

Thanks, that is useful.

I have got it going with the Motorola phone tools software but it'd be
nice to be able to create a connection using DialUp Networking.

Don't know if you've figured this one out yet, but I had exactly the
same problem trying to use DUN (and it's PDA variant) with my Vodafone
V3. I ended up using *99***3# as the dial string and adding the
following as extra dial-string commands:

+CGDCONT=3,"IP","internet",,0,

I've no idea why this works but it does. Picked it up from another forum
somewhere. "internet" is the GPRS logon for Vodafone so it might well be
different for your provider.
