Tried calling Virgin tonight to get a PAC code. Waited 1 hour 20 mins,
listening to more rap music than I care to, and still didn't get an answer.
    Appalling!

Anyone else with tales of battery flattening, brain tumour inducing delays
    calling CS??

I waited 20 minutes once, only to get cut off..! Another call, another 25
minutes..! At least by pressing 1 you can change the so-called "music"
though, I found Beethoven sligthly better, although the man himself was
probably rolling in his grave at the quality of reproduction..!

there queue must prioritize their calls. Calling 789 is much quicker
then using the saynoto0870 number. I have £100 credit on my simcard
and got through within 5 and 15 mins yesterday

    Yawn...

Give it up Jim, you can't even get the terminology right, it's MHz not
mhz, and you purport to be a radio amateur..!

So why did I wait 20 minutes on 789 before getting cut off..? Then a
further 25 mins before anyone answered..? Then the next day I got straight
through with no waiting at all..?

Yes, par for the course with them unfortunately.

25 minute to 45 minute waits are certainly common and that's at any time of
day (and by using the 789 access). I've had to wait for the best part of 1
hour on a number of occasions in the last year. Curiously, the recorded
message explains that they are receiving "unusually high call volumes". The
fact that this message greets a caller (almost) every time they try to
contact CS suggests that the only unusual thing about the problem is
Virgin's inability to either address it or to change the message.

The CS is also now very poor indeed - they are unable to answer basic
technical problem questions or questions relating to billing. The problem is
that whereas T-Mobile, for example, is very good in redirecting and
answering technical problem questions through 1 CS call and even calling
    back promptly Virgin isn't. I think it's a shame because Virgin CS - 4 or 5
years ago at least - used to be very good.

And the press 1 to change call queue music only works occasionally as well
    ;-)

Virgin is now almost all round a pretty poor service - expensive GPRS, no
call divert, crap CS, very poor network specific WAP portal services and
uncompetitive off network call charges (compared to easyMobile, CPW and
    Tesco Mobile for example).

Email them, it is far quicker and you get the email directed to the correct
department before they reply. I found that on the phone people had
difficulty understanding my british accent so i was passed from one to
    another before being cut off.

Oh that's funny - laugh everyone! Yet another silly comment from this
Scottish radio amateur that litters the newsgroups with the most boring
posts. At least he keeps himself amused. Definitely one for the kill
filter, but set it to do all groups.

We do, but 200 mins a month isn't enough for the volume of calls we
make so have the Virgin simcard as a backup

So, obviously Virgin are cheaper than Mercury for those extra minutes then ?
