According to Orange it's the 6820 or 6610i

http://www.orange.co.uk/business/corporate/6310i/

The Nokia 6310i has been discontinued, along with the CARK91 car kit. Whilst
a popular phone, particularly for business users, more advanced mobile
technologies have made this change an inevitability.

The new generation of Nokia handsets uses different connection sockets; if
you upgrade to one of the new Nokias from a 6310i your car kit will need to
be replaced.

Although Orange will continue to support the 6310i for the immediate future,
if your business currently uses the 6310i we recommend you begin to look at
alternative phones. Amongst these are the Nokia 6820 - great for messaging,
and the Nokia 6610i - a classic business phone.

If you need to know more about upgrading from the Nokia 6310i, your Account
Manager will be happy to help - or you can call Orange customer services on
158 from your Orange phone or 07973 100158 from any other phone.

I went from the 6210i to the 6310i so I must have somehow missed the
6410 and the 6510 if the 6610 is the next in the series. Perhaps I will
just wait for the 6710i to come out :-)

Well there was always the Nokia 6340i
(http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6340i/) which was a US spec. phone very
similar to the 6310i but which covered 850 and 1900 MHz GSM, 800/1900 TDMA
plus 800 MHz AMPS analogue, a very useful phone to have when travelling in
the US, I must try and lay my hands on one sometime..!

Without commenting on anything else in this post or webpage, I'm not sure
I'd agree with the 6610i as a replacement for the 6310i. I haven't checked
the full feature set on nokia.co.uk, but I know it doesn't have Bluetooth.

Regards

Jon.

For some of us the *absence* of a camera was a major advantage of the
6310i.

I agree that if you can accept a phone that has a camera, a good camera is
better than a crappy one.

A camera that was sufficiently present to mean that I couldn't take the
phone onto clients' premises and also sufficiently awful that it didn't get
used would be a loser all round!

Cheers,
Daniel.

If you do not need bluetooth or a camera the new Nokia 1101
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,79232,00.html
is worth looking at.

I recently bought my wife one and was surprised to find that the menu
system is very similar to my 6310i. It also seems to have good standby
and talk time.

Cheers
Mark

That is a nice basic phone (that you can get for 20quid) but its no way
a replacement for 6310i which still commands prices around 60 quid 2nd hand.

Perhaps only those of us who have a 6310i appreciate just how good it is
and how difficult it is to find anything that will ever be able to
replace it.

Basic it is. No bluetooth (nor even infra-red(?)), no data calls, no GPRS --
so no using it with my Palm to pick up EMail, no connecting to the PC to back
up the phone book. Not tri-band. Only 50 numbers in the phonebook.

Good value for 20 quid, if you want a decent basic phone, though.

Indeed.

If you're lucky!

A reconditioned "as new" 6310i will set you back 225 quid, e.g. from
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=116697

They used to sell it for about 160 new, when it was still in production. The
current price alone shows just how strong a following this device has -- and
with good reason.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Which is why I have three. Two in daily use plus a spare.

I bought a brand new never taken out of the box one off eBay last year for
£100.
