Phone with bluetooth modem?

Just found out that my Nokia 8800 doesn't support DUN as it hasn't got a
modem, so, I'm after a phone that supports DUN over bluetooth and I'd
appreciate any suggestions and even better if anyone has tried and
tested a phone

Basically I just got a new Axim X51v from dell, even though the
connection would be used very occasionally as I've got my laptop, it'd
be nice to check e mails sometimes from the pda as it's a lot easier to
carry about than a laptop.

TIA

Charlie.

The 8800 does have a modem.

Woo, so it does!

Certainly took some setting up though, I'm not the most technical
person in the world!

Cheers for that, now all I need is an isp with a geographical number!

Try clara.net, they certainly used to. I think you have to pay a small
monthly sub for it.

Be careful though, not all networks included data calls, even to
geographic numbers, in their inclusive airtime.

I don't think the Clara geo numbers are mentioned publically on their
web site any more.

There have several account options. A "continuous free trial" account
is, as its name suggests, free. That gives one email address and usenet
access from dialup only.

A "mail and news" account is £10 per year but includes unlimited email
addresses and supports authentication on usenet and the SMTP server.
Meaning it can be used from other accounts and GPRS. I use that one
myself.

Indeed and some make it far from clear...

Which networks do?

I recall that data calls to geo numbers used to come out of inclusive
minutes on T-Mobile's FT750 but don't know if that's still the case. Is it
tariff-specific or a blanket policy for all contracts native to the
network?

They still do and there is a pricing PDF on the T-mobile site that
confirms it.

That, the 6pm off peak start and the number of "half price line rental
for life" deals around on that tariff make me very tempted.

If it wasn't for the Orange unlimited PAYG GPRS at £1 per day I'd
probably have joined by now.

Checkout www.reestitmutton.co.uk for T-Mobile deals which includes
MobileShop's 18-month free line rental deal on FT750.

Any other networks allow data calls to geo numbers from inclusive minutes?

I committed it to memory, although it may have changed.

0207 906 6161 and also I think 0207 906 5151, but definitely the first
one.

That's the one.

Ah, hell now I'm going to have to get that...

It doesn't specifically mention it but it looks like it might be the one
that is 1/2 price line rental after 18 months.

Anyone know if all FT-750 18 month tariffs are 1/2 price after 18 months
or if there are some which still go to full price?

BTYahoo! (formerly BTinternet and BTopenworld) does, following quoted
from their web site:

BT Yahoo! from abroad
International (PSTN): +44 121 478 9200
International (ISDN): +44 121 478 9300
Please note: Caller Line Identity (CLI) is required.

I have used these numbers for dialup access from a laptop with a Siemens
mobile. (I believe the ISDN number may allow quicker connects - not
sure) It's limited to 9.6k + compression though, so you may be better
off with your mobile provider's GPRS offering.

That has transformed itself over night into a 12-month free line rental
deal which is not so good :-(
