The warranty from Orange, I think you will find, is 12 months, during which
time THEY are required to sort out your "complaint/fault".
However, if Orange "take it on board" then they'll take the handset, send it
to Nokia. Nokia will repair, send to Orange. Orange will contact you. You go
and collect.
You MAY be able to get (as Vodafone do) a "replacement" handset, whilst
yours is away.
The quicker method, however, would be to contact Nokia direct (01480
434343), or have a look at their web site for the nearest service centre.
Take your phone to the service centre and, if Level 2, they may be able to
repair on site, in an hour or so (all depends on the fault).
With regard to the warranty, I feel SURE that Nokia now offer 24 months
warranty (that's with Nokia, and not with the retailer)
Cheers
