I'm looking for a mobile that will record calls. I did have a S/E T630
which did the job but the recording quality was not much good. I'm not too
worried about fancy features other than the ability to record calls of a
    better quality than the T630.

Can anyone please recommend a phone up to the job?

    Steve.

6230, 6230i, in fact I think most of the "uprange" phones do so.

Personal experience of the 6230 and 6230i, is that they both do so, and are
    good, quality recordings.

However, the 6230 has the ability to also playback the recording whilst you
are on the phone, at a later date should you so wish. The 6230i will PLAY
the recording whilst you are on the phone, but it is NOT transmitted to the
    other party.

Pity about that loss of functionality. It was handy (with the 6230) to
playback a recording of somewhere where you WEREN'T, to convince the other
party that you were "elsewhere!!". This cannot be done with the 6230i.

    Happy searching.

Well, my Nokia 6230 will record, don't know how the quality compares
with the one you mention though

Yes, but both emit a beep every 5 seconds to let the recorded party
know they are being recorded, and they are limited to about 3 minutes
    total.

The beep used to be a legal requirement, but that was dropped some
    years ago.

Anyone know of a Nokia that can record conversations without the damn
beep, and without the time limitation (maybe recodring direct to the
    MMC card)?

My old Siemens SL42 recorded without bleeping, and the time was only limited
by the size of the MMC card

No, though if you want to be able to use it as admissable evidence in
a court you do need to make it clear that the call is being recorded.

Thanks to Steve's recommendation, I picked up a Siemens SL45i off ebay
and am very happy with it, both for when I need to record a call and
also as a dictaphone - recordings are simply sent to the computer as
    ..wav files.
