    Folks,

I've been playing Orange phone tag for about an hour now, literally
being transferred to and fro. Perhaps I'm spinning my wheels for £4
pointlessly and could use some guidance.

At Xmas, I signed up to Orange PAYG and topped up with £10. This gave
me 300 January texts. I didn't realise this at the time even though I'm
sure I'd seen the adverts previously.

When asked by the customer service rep if I'd like to buy any Extra
Bundles I said I needed to text and she signed me to a £4 package for
50 texts (without reminding me I'd just inherited 300 for free).

I suppose some people DO text that much...I don't. I would very much
like to get this Extra cancelled or changed to something more useful,
    like a talk bundle.

Most numbers I've dialled give me the same menu options as dialling 450
which is basically an automated topping up service. 08000790006 got me
a person but they just put me back to 07973100450...which is
    450...again.

Any advice besides "do you research next time"? :-)

You are going to need a real person again! Orange don't normally give
refunds or exchanges on "bundles" - but they just might if a genuine mistake
has been made. For example, on Orange contracts, bundles can only be cancelled
from the NEXT billing date and are never refunded.

The two customer reps I got ahold of already insisted that 450 was the
right port of call...but I've not been able to speak to a live person
    at that number.

I asked both specifically to look into my issue...they said they
    couldn't.

I've been to an Orange Wednesday already, saved £4.00. Methinks I
will have to consider that my "refund". Sigh.

450 has a 'real person' exit, but it costs a flat 25p, from the mobile.

Give up - you can't cancel and extra bundle once it's been activated.

There's no need to post it to uk.telecom

uk.telecom.mobile was specifically set up because of the high
and growing number of mobile-related threads. PGS (whom some
will remember) was against the idea, commenting that it would
too often be the case that there would be cross-posts but for
the most part that doesn't happen, and there's rarely a need,
so please make this your first, and last, if possible. Peter

    Great Peter, some good advice.

I've had no luck with Orange. At least after 30 minutes on Virgin a
    real person used to answer.

I'll know next time that after a £10 top up, I needn't buy any
additional text bundles. Got 1.0mb of Orange World access too which
isn't anything to write home about. Internet on a mobile
phone....truly rubbish. Good for movie showtimes and that's about it..

They refunded, then reapplied the £1 unlimited GPRS bundle on my phone
when I ordered it at 00:10 and their system had already "expired" it by
daylight. They didn't refund the GPRS they charged me for when the bundle
was terminated when it shouldn't have been though

I've managed it. The £1 for a day's unlimited GPRS got expired within a
few hours of buying it at 00:10. The CS rep agreed that should not have
happened. They refunded it - then immediately reapplied it. And refunded
the 25p call to CS. I didn't get the charged-for GPRS refunded though,
although that should never have been chargeable.

Quite, in this case a mistake has been. What I meant was that a bundle
cannot be cancelled simply because you've changed your mind.

Dial 450, choose option 1, 1, 1 and wait - you will eventually be put
thru to an advisor for free. I do it whenever i got an issue with them
