It hasn't improved here one iota. And I'm 12 miles from Birmingham. ALL
the other networks are endstop.

Yes you do get charged for connected diverted calls. If you are on any
mobile network apart from vodafone payg, recieving a call which has been
diverted you get onscreen indication (on most handsets)

Sorry chaps, just for the avoidance of doubt - in the UK one does not
pay for receiving a diverted call. The phone doing the diverting picks
up the tab for the diverted leg.
EG If I divert phone X to phone Y, and then call phone X from phone A,
phone A pays for the A>X leg, X pays for the diversion from X>Y and Y
pays nothing.

Well, the following passage:

Suggests that someone in the thread though they paid for receiving
diverted calls.

From their website:
"we will apply a charge of 75p which is deducted from your account
balance. This charge will be applied every month until your spend
exceeds £5.00."

Eh? What in the above makes you think I meant the receiving phone pays? The
phone from which the call is diverted pays for the diverted leg. In any case
it's usually irrelavent since the phone diverted from and to are usually owned
by the same person (or their spouse as in the OP's case).
I sometimes have divert on not reachable set on my mobile, to my landline, and
if my landline rings when my mobile is off there is no way I can tell whether
the caller phoned my mobile or landline without asking them. The CLI shows up as
the caller's number regardless.
