Call forwarding on PAYG
Hi,
do any of the UK networks allow call forwarding on a PAYG sim, particularly
forwarding to another number when the PAYG is busy or witched off?
Thanks

Thank for the quick reply. What a pain. The missus hardly ever makes calls
so has PAYG. Sometime she has to have her 'phone turned off and doesn't want
to miss calls entirely, so thought she'd forward them to me - I guess she
won't be though!

Depends what you mean when you say PAYG.
easyMobile, from Stelios, provide call forwarding
Fresh, from CPW, also provide call forwarding.
But neither of these work the same way as most PAYG services.. But you
still don't pay line rental

Be warned, both these services use T-Mobile's infrastructure, which isn't
renowned for its coverage..! Also, I don't know about Fresh, but
Easymobile has a minimum spend requirement, which goes against the whole
concept of PAYG as far as I'm concerned.

Ignore the idiot. I have a T-mobile and have been to all corners of britain
and never lost reception toaly. No more than my missus's orange phone and my
o2 work phone. I did have a voda and didn't like their coverage.

I live in Brum, and I've seen more areas where Orange and Vodafone get no
signal than T-Mobile (+virtuals) one such area is my house and surroundings
perfect T-Mobile, yet no Vodafone, another where I used to live perfect
T-Mobile no Orange, those are just two of the many areas just in Brum.

Outside of the name calling, the fact is that you can lose coverage
with any network simply based on the location of their base stations.
We used to have poor O2 coverage here and then about a year ago a base
station was erected about half a mile away. O2 is great now and one of
my preferred choices.
By their nature 'cells' have a small coverage and a large enough
number of cells are required to make this continuous. Bad luck if you
happen to live in a 'gap' on your network.
T-Mobile were behind the other networks in establishing the required
number of cells and thus they received a reputation of having poor
coverage. This seems to have improved over the last couple of years
but it is generally recognised that there will still be more 'dead'
spots on T-Mobile than on the other three 2G networks.
Everyone's experience may be different depending on how close to
relevant base stations the live, travel or work.
There is little point in calling people 'idiots' for expressing their
opinions and experiences!

Unfortunately, if you're into maths, you only have to look at figures on
paper to realise T-Mobile *do* have abominal coverage. Particularly in
sub-urban areas.
It's just a fact they're crap, they didn't earn that reputation for nothing
you know! Many people here with perhaps with them a number of years ago, but
myself knowing a few people who have tried various phones and still end up
not getting a signal when everybody else does in the exact same location
says it all.

So tell me why more people complain about T-Mobile's coverage than all the
other networks put together..? And why do I get no signal at all (well
maybe 1 bar sometimes if I'm upstairs near the window) on T-Mobile but
endstop on all the other networks..?
I live within 12 miles of Birmingham BTW so I'm not exactly out in the
sticks.

I'm from Brum too. I haven't had much problems with orange though. Of course
the actual phone must play a part in things too I suppose.

So much for your KF. I live just off Quinton, B'ham and have no problems
too.I have my t-mobile hereand its full strength. I do about 20000 miles a
year for last 2 years and have yet to fail in making a t-mobile call. I
switched from voda to T-mobile because of poor coverage. My work phone the
O2 is a bit patchy compared but still brilliant. My gf's Orange is sitting
here searching as I type though. I feel sorry for you having problems you
have had on T-mobile, I really do.

Like a beach in Devon? My T-mobile was the only one able to make a call out
of all 4 of my family

Exactly, REPUTAION. As in what has gone on before. Saying that I do
understand a bad reputaion is hard to work off. All through this thread it
sounds like people are basing a opinion of today's T-mobile on past going
ons. Just another quick point, the bad reputation they devolped was from
their one2one days. Now that was crap!

Vodafone have a free "call catcher" facility, where you get a text message if
someone tries phoning you when your phone is switched off or out of coverage.
Obviously you won't see the message until next time you switch the phone on...
Also be aware of diverts, you'll pay for the diverted leg and may not even
realise the call has been diverted, so it could cost you a lot without you
realising.
