Cashbacks - Retails goes bust - Cancelling with Network


Some unbelievable deals but if retailer went bust would Network agree to
cancel the contract. Particularly Three.

I know a family who have ordered several phones who can only afford if
cashbacks work out. I have warned them but they have disregarded my warning.

Ahhh...the Jury's out on that one.

IME...They are far too new for anyone to have a complete picture of
their ability/willingness to pay out on their cashback promises.

Now...IIRC, they started coming to the fore with unbeatable deals just
before I went off-air for paternity leave (July 2005) so the first part
of the cashback should be claimable about now for some people...allow a
month's grace period for the claim to be lodged and another month for
Mobile Rainbow to pay out...then another month for the customers who
haven't been paid to get impatient and you should start seeing all
manner of complaints hit the NG around the end of March, beginning of
April. Let us hope you see a flood of glowing testimonials sooner than that.

I wish your friends well...I sure wouldn't want to be a guinea pig for
this company's reliability/longevity.

In my case I have two mobiles with e2save and all apart from one which is
not due yet have been paid.
All late but were paid.

Yeah. The folks at e2Save are reliable. The same with OneStopPhoneShop
although their Customer Services people can be not so nice to chat to.

Its a shame really. CPW are so cut throat that both online and high street
retailers are becoming less reliable. 2006 promises to be an interesting
year. By the end of it we'll probably see CPW competition diminish by about
half.

For the last two years, I have taken advantage of The Link 'clearance'
deals, adding two phones to my Orange account, each on YP200 at £30
per month with £360 cashback. At least with The Link, I feel I am
minimising my chances of not receiving the cashback due.

True. Recently, they had a deal with a Samsung E530 with free bluetooth
headset on an 18 month contract with 17 months free - 200 minutes anytime
any network. Excellent deal. If you used a cashback link from QuidCo, it
would be a totally free contract.

However, with CPW's loss leading cutthroat tactics, even high street retail
chains are no longer stable:

The only reason they're fairly secure at the moment, is because we trust
stores such as The Link and that they belong to large groups. We assume
that if The Link goes bust, that it would be bailed out. However, this may
not be true.

Still, I do believe that The Link will still be a safe place to shop for
2006 although it may well be sold off by the group this year as the mobile
phone market becomes too competitive.
