    Eh?

I've already pointed out that there was no "attitude" intended in my
original answer - if you choose to perceive it for something it isn't (even
after having it pointed out to you), then nothing I can say will change your
    views.

Guesses are a dangerous thing in this field (as evidenced by us every single
day from the volume of badly unlocked or flashed handsets we end up fixing).

And I have had an interest in mobile phones and their software for
many years. Do you not think that the fact that I have the ability to
actually dismantle and cut the tiny track within the Siemens series of
phones followed by an unlock implies to you that I have somewhat more
knowledge than the average poster to Usenet? I have flashed and
upgraded many handsets over the years and never had to resort to
sending one to a 'professional' to sort out my errors.

I have no complaints with your advice which is obviously correct and I
have no problem with receiving advice on how to do something, which is
exactly what Jon Parker's post did. On the other hand, I found the
wording 'guess again' in your reply, which was issued after Jon's, to
    be condescending and arrogant.

Usenet is about learning and the sign of a good poster is to give
sincere advice, without appearing to be aloof, especially when it is
obvious that the previous poster has much of the needed knowledge and
just requires that little bit extra.

This has now wandered well off topic and therefore it will be my last
posting on this thread. If you can't see that your expression caused
upset to what was trying to be a helpful reply, then we will have to
    agreed to differ.

Whilst we are chatting, do you have any knowledge about the reception
of an unreadable text message on Tesco mobile from 85099? I posted
this about three threads further down but nobody seems to know the
    answer.

Your guesswork comment regarding the A62 would indicate otherwise, but I'm
more than happy to take your word for it.

I'm afraid that's your problem. The post was never intended to be
    interpreted in that way.

What make and model of phone did you receive the message on?

Not what I was thinking it could be then.

However, Googling the short code comes up with the following:-

    http://www.joomearaofficial.com/media.html

Which would indicate that you've asked for a ringtone to be sent to the
phone (possibly in an incorrect format).
