Can anyone recommend a cheap PAYG phone I can buy for my son to take on
holiday with him? Chances of him losing it are moderate so don't want him
to take his ROKR with him.

    Thanks in advance

In case you're not aware, making and receiving calls while roaming abroad
is going to cost a fortune (e.g. 70p / min just to receive a call). And
that of course does not come out of the inclusive minutes. There's an
international option though on T-Mobile that reduces the cost somewhat.

    Siemens A62 from Orange.
Dunno about call rates, but it's a fiver if you buy via Quidco, or a tenner
    if you don't

International Option is not available on T-Mobile PAYG

Calls cost £1/min making or receiving calls in France

Why all these suggestions? £20 isn't exactly 'cheap' to some people. You'll
get an older style basic mobile on ebay.co.uk no problem, go indulge
yourself. Read the auctions carefully, ie: for "it doesn't work"
    small-print.

It's all relative. For sure £20 is a lot of money to some people. To others
it's a drop in the ocean. Horses for courses and all that.

    That's bollox - if you can't afford 20 quid for a phone, you shouldn't
be using a mobile in the first place.

Based on what? The assumption that what you personally think happens to be
the way of the world? A mobile is useful for an emergency; ie: incident
possibly leading to injury or even fatality. A cheapo tri-band off ebay for
a fiver would probably be of more worth than a brand new out of the box
    phone.
