T-mobile unlimited (limited?) GPRS...

Interesting news mentioned on Modaco. The "unlimited" T-mobile GPRS add
on may actually materialise:

However at the same time an email from T-mobile CS says this will have a
"fair usage" limit of 40Mb.

Orange PAYG is still streets ahead with £1 for unlimited in a day,
although it's not allowed with 3G.

To be fair some people think that the 40MB fair usage comment may be a
CS getting confused since it seems to undermine the whole thing.

There has also been indications that the add on can be to any monthly
tariff (it apparently appears on the T-mobile on line options). That
might mean that the £7.50 SIM only tariff is included. A £15 a month
unlimited GPRS with 3G included would be something :-)

What does the SIM only tariff consist of?

I've had a quick look on their website, but couldn't see anything.

50 cross net minutes, no minimum term (30 days notice for cancellation)
and £7.50 per month.

Look on Shop->Special Offers. There is a "Sim Only" option on the left.

I don't know if it will be possible to add the "unlimited GPRS" extra to
that tariff though.

It's a shame they don't do a bigger range of SIM only tariffs.
Although taking a Flext tariff with the online discount plus the
unlimited data for an extra £7.50 would work out about the same price
as Vodafone's SIM only deals. Not sure that I would want to be tied in
for 18 months though.

The latest indication from Mobiholics (someone who emailed T-mobile CS)
indicates that the "fair usage" is in fact ***2GB*** and with 3G
included.

That makes it look just a little bit better :-)

Now had another update from someone working in T-mobile sales who's had
a briefing on this.

There will be two versions of the bundle. One is the "consumer" version
which is the £7.50 a month with all the restrictions but no usage cap.

The other is a "Pro" version with no restrictions other than a 2GB cap.
That will cost £8.50 a month not including VAT.

Breach of fair usage restrictions will result in initial warnings
followed by reduction in "transmission speed". I'm assuming that means
speed throttling.

These will be bundles which can be added to anything apart from U-Fix
and Mix-it. I specifically asked about the SIM only deal and was told
that yes it could be added to that too. I'll soon find out since I've
just purchased a SIM only deal.

3G data is included.

Flext and Relax will have combined plans which can include it as part of
the tariff.

If this is true it sounds ***incredible*** and blows away anything
anyone else is offering.

I know, unbelievable isn't it?

I'm so used to SPs trying to polish a turd, err I mean employ slick
marketing techniques that I think there must be a catch.

I thought it would be crippled by some silly usage cap (remember Orange
"unlimited 10MB"?) I thought it was the "no laptops" bit until I was
told about the Pro version. Then maybe they only allowed it on certain
expensive tariffs, nope on that front too.

I fscked if I can think of anything else so I'm left with the ridiculous
conclusion that it might actually be true...

If you are referring to the Relax(12)+Unlimited Web+Walk or the Flext
Version, then i believe it is intended to be a 3 month solution in
which all customers signed up to by 30th June will have the option to
keep this package on a permanant basis.
