I'm on my second SE K750i. O2 replaced my last one with a reconditioned
one about 3 months ago, because the joystick had ceased to function
properly.
Now the replacement is doing the same. It drives me ****ing crazy! Never
will I buy a joystick phone again

My K750i is now really old ;-) well about 9 months and has recently started
to stick esp when using it for "downward" actions. I have found that simply
swiching off/on has made all the diff and it works fine again. By no means
ideal tho. | | | |

It feels like a "software" fault with me too. Either way it's crap, and has
been crap since the T68.

Just got a 750i. Had the same problem with my 700i so I'm using all the
joystick avoiding shortcuts like choosing items off the main menu with the
keypad (the 12 keys map neatly onto the 12 menu items) and using the numeric
keys to select list items (they number from 1 downwards). Defeats the object
I know, but it's quicker than using the 'stick and I like everything about
the 700 and 750 apart from the flaky joysticks. | | | |

And me, in the last two years I've sent my K750i back once and my K700i back
trice for the joystick
Would thought SE would make it more robust!

I assumed it was dust or dirt getting into the workings of the joystick
switch. Surely if it was a software problem, the 'phone would exhibit
the problem from being new, not a few months down the line? Both my
K750s were fine for a while.

I know what you mean, and yet... It does have a software feel to it.
Sometimes there will be a delay between moving the joystick and the phone
responing, rather than complete failure to respond. And sometimes it goes
from totally rejecting, say, stick left movements, to being totally
responsive a few seconds later. I wonder if it is some sort of cumulative
software effect.
On the other hand... I have a Sony VCR that has a joystick on the remote.
And guess what... | | | |

Agreed, it is dirt.
Sometimes pushing the joystick hard, or wiggling it a bit first works ...
boviously frees the dirt.

Mine doesn't improve, whatever I do. Typing texts is so unpredictable,
it's so frustrating and drives me nuts! I think I'll ask O2 about
another repair/recon job, then stick the thing on eBay.

Get it repaired, sometimes they last 9 months or so without a fault. Should
repair for free.
Plus worth doing before you sell it anyway, my mate did it and they gave him
a new handset, far more valuable ;o)
