Depends on your network.
For Orange, unless you upgrade to a
3G phone, they will not send you a
3G USIM/enable
3G on your account. Bizarrely, if you then later
'upgrade' to a 2G phone and use the standard 2G
SIM included (which I
understand, they say you must do), you'll lose the ability to put that
SIM in a
3G device (ie. your old phone) and get
3G service.
For T-Mobile, I understand they give out USIMs as standard now for all
phones, and are
3G enabled, therefore putting it in a
3G device will
give you
3G services, even if you never bought a
3G phone from them.
