All UK sims have free incoming calls.

Have a look at this: http://www.0044.co.uk
I've only just bought one of the Global SIMs so have no idea of how well it
works yet.

How does this compare to www.talafone.com has anyone used them as they
appear to be cheaper.

I don't see it as cheaper.

Rather inaccurate Yaz. Talafone is based on the same underlying SIM,
but with rather higher tariffs - 50c is more than 25c I think.
I suggest you do a Google search for Talafone before signing up - the
word scam is not unknown. In addition, the proprietor has spam-posted
libellous remarks about United Mobile - namely that they fraudulently
charged his credit card and other equally black fabricated propaganda.
It was all deleted off HowardForums but remains elsewhere. He did this
in the guise of Dutch and Lebanese usernames, but both from the same
Canadian IP, and is banned on another forum. I would not buy from
someone that treats customers and rivals with such contempt, and I hope
that people will be wary should he find his way here.

Then get one of these SIMs - incoming calls are free in loads of
countries, and outgoing calls in those average 15p per minute for
landlines, but cheaper than this is possible by another method.
I used it in France a week ago for 12 minutes incoming and 19 minutes
outgoing, costing £1.58; the SIM's own tariff would have been £2.40.
O2's ITS would charge £14.50

What card is that Andy? Is there a URL missing here?

Thanks. I just tried both of these, but my phone, a Ericsson R520m, does
not appear to be compatible with either.

I use a Riiiing (United Telecom) and it's good.

no rule against getting another phone for £20 or less
In a couple of non-listed phones it receives calls ok, so could be used
with separate callback

Just looked at United Mobile. They claim to work in all phones, so I'll
probably go for that. Thanks

Ditto, (after those extortionate o2 bills). In fact, if Riiing can
supply the service at lower cost, and Wind can provide data at 7p per
MB, (roaming), we are truly being ripped off by our mobile phone
providers.
I'm also considering switching to the Isle of Man global mobile sim so
that it will be cheaper for people in the UK to call me.
