Me and my dad have just changed to newer phones,

We both had nokia 6310i's, both work perfectly, have the chargers, mine has
a desk charger etc, but mine's a bit battered, paint scratched, dust under
the screen, tho mine is the silver one, his the gold and black one,

i was ready to just bin them, but reading some spam, you still get these
    phones on certian contracts.

So are these phones worth owt?, mine was on orange but has been unlocked,
dad's on voda, so unlocked to start with.

There is still demand for the 6310i, which is widely regarded as the best
phone Nokia have ever made. Although it's been discontinued for several
years now, there are many people with factory fitted car kits that need
them, and many that buy them simply because they're such a good handset. A
few months ago you could have easily sold them for around £90 each, but
prices have dropped slightly and a more realistic figure now would be
    somewhere around £60 per phone.

I'm not sure that you're correct that they have been dropped from
Nokia's product range - it is still lisred in the Nokia web page:

    http://www.europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,1072,00.html

along with the 6100 and the 3330. It would appear that there are some
markets that Nokia find it prudent to continue to market certain
"obsolete" models in. The Carribean being one such possible?

Singularly their most popular phone ever, especially with business
users. Rumours abound that Nokia are going to start making it again -
    there is so much demand......

Tri-band actually. Loved by the business community for 500 memories
with up to five numbers per entry plus the SIM memory, and no
    camera!!.

What actually is the attraction? I always liked them for their long battery
life, dual-band, bluetooth... still got a couple in fact. But they don't
actually have any feature you can't get easily in some other phone.

My pet 6310i hate is *no auto keylock*, what were Nokia thinking of.

No, but they have all the features you *need* without the crap that
    comes on other phones.

Not difficult to do it manually when you've finished a call, I do it
automatically without thinking about it. It also unlocks and relocks
automatically when you put it in and take it out of the car kit, which is
    half the battle.

I''m not surprised. I have three; two in daily use and one spare new in
the box for when one fails.

Oop yes I meant that. Went shopping for local SIM in Florida once, sarky
bloke in phone shop almost fell off his chair when Stupid Brit's phone
    actually worked on their T-Mobile.

So what is the natural success to the 6310i?

This is technically known as a "downgrade".

You know how good the 6310i is ... what you haven't found out yet is how
much less good your new phones are.

    > So are these phones worth owt?

Expansys still have a few refurb 6310i phones SIM-free for something over
£200 - that's about twice the lowest price I saw when Nokia still made
    them.

    Cheers,
    Daniel.

Another 6310i. There is nothing that compares to the 6310i, and certainly
nothing from Nokia that approaches it for quality. If you look at other
manufacturers, the Ericsson T39 was a good rival with similar features, a
better (IMHO) form factor and comparable battery life.

I really want a T39, having had a T28, but at the time, I 'upgraded' to
    a T68i.

Maybe I should look around for a decent used phone seller with T39s in
stock. Phones aren't what they were, my K700i is looking really tatty
after 14 months of use, whereas the T610 I gave to my wife that's now
well over 2 years old still looks like a new phone. Oh, and my T28 was
used for 3 years between the two of us, and looks pristine.
