Sorry Rick, I have precisely the opposite experience. That is, when I'm
streaming radio, the connection is rock solid. It's when I'm not using
the connection much, for example, reading a long web page, that the
connection sometimes cuts out. I've had connections as long as an hour
or so, which is impressive given I usually only use it on the train!

I'm using the same.

Try disabling PPP keepalives.

Just last week, someone called every morning to speak to President Gore. By
Friday, the operator was flustered, and finally snapped, "You call every day
asking that, and every day I tell you that Mr. Gore lost the election. Why?"
"I just like hearing that. It's a great start for the day!" | | | |

I'm not aware of any option like that though. (I'm using mac os x
10.4.6.)

I don't have a Mac in front of me to check, but IIRC:
System Preferences -> Network -> PPP -> PPP Options -> Send PPP Echo
Packets.
.... which disables testing the link with LCP echoes. My P900 seems to
blackhole the requests and eventually the laptop thinks the PPP session has
dropped if this option is enabled and it hasn't received any IP packets for
a while.

Cheers! It was selected, I take it I deselect?
