Nokia N70 not working - any ideas?


Hi all,
bought two refurbished N70s from TheLink on Three.
One is with the grandparents for video calls.
It worked okay a week ago and then wasn't used.
Tried it today and the SIM fails to register and then the phone says
it's going to power off and does so.

Is there any chance the network can work some magic (e.g. could it be
a fault with the SIM)?
Or is it a case of send it back for a swap?
Anybody dealt with TheLink when a phone's failed?

This sounds like a silly question but is the battery fully charged? only
most 3g phones have an awfull battery life & have to be charged nearly
everday. Most 3g phones these days come with 2 batteries iv had a
samsung z320i about a week & that came with 2 batteries.

Try it with the charger plugged in. Check the power button isn't stuck
in. Take the sim out and use it in `offline mode` and see what happens
(it should let you do most things except make calls). Perhaps a
`factory reset` will help - look online for the code. Try a different
sim card.

Failing all that, go back and ask for your money back or a working
model.

Thanks for the suggestion but we'd recharged and it still was on the
blink.
I contacted 3, who were pretty helpful and checked the account hadn't
been blocked by mistake.
I need to wait until I get the phone back here. Then I can swap the
SIMs over between it and my (still) working one.

For info.
Finally managed to get hold of the non-working N70.
It turns out the SIM is at fault. Swapped it with the one that was
working and now that other phone comes up with the same message.
'SIM card not valid' then 'Phone will restart'.

3 are sending me a new SIM.
Anyone know how ling that should take?
