MSFP email "push" without exchange

NB Before anyone starts on the pedantry, I know it's not really push
(since you must have a full-time connection to the server) but with
T-mobile's GPRS deal it seems likely to be "good enough" if you don't
mind the shortening battery life.

What I want to know is, is it possible to make use of MSFP push email
without exchange? Is there a third-party app which I could use to
provide the equivalent service from a non-MS server?

I'm usinge the software/service from www.vgsmail.com/ppc - turns any
imap account into push email.

Works for me!
