Are there any phones with built in GPS that can run TomTom? Preferably
not PDA phones but if that's all there is then will check them out too.

    thanks

Grab a copy of the free magazine in the carphone warehouse or look on the
    site, there are a few.

Motorola A780 - clamshell type phone with built in GPS & SatNav
    software - not TomTom though.

    Cheers

Nearest one is about 120 miles away. Looking online hasn't found
anything in particular, other than phones that do not run TomTom.

Yeah saw that one. Do you or anyone else know what the SatNav is like?

There's also the e-ten m500 and gio a701 - both pda phones though - you
can buy them both without sat nav software and add TomTom yourself if
    you wish

Is there a particular problem with using a seperate bluetooth receiver?

Does the GPS have to be built in?

If you can live with a Bluetooth GPS then you have a lot of phones to
    choose from:

Well I'm looking for a friend and he hates bluetooth as both headsets
and phones he has used previously lost signal so much he's decided it's
a poor standard. I can see combines phones/gps receivers coming but at
the moment I think we are at the in between stage. He may have to go
    with a pda/phone.

I understand his concern, previous bluetooth GPS receivers did have a bit of
    trouble.

Having said that I've been using my BT GPS with my Nokia for around a year
now and it's absolutely rock solid. Not a single dropped connection, ever,
the battery lasts for around 12 hours too. I've not heard anyone complaining
about lost signals with the TomTom BT GPS so I think your friend is worrying
    without cause.

I agree totally. Having looked at a few reviews no one mentions it as
a problem that I have seen. I may have to talk him around over a pint.
    :-)
