My elderly mother has a Pay As You Go phone with Vodaphone as her Network
She rarely uses her phone for outgoing calls, it's for emergencies or if we
want to contact her when she is travelling, so any money she spends on it
lasts a long time. A recent holiday abroad meant that she had not used her
phone for some weeks and she still has not used up the £10 top up she put on
a few months ago.
Recently she got a text from Vodaphone saying that there had not been much
'movement' on her number so if she did not top it up soon they would be
removing her number.
Is this usual practice? I don't remember seeing anywhere when she bought her
mobile that it would be rendered useless if she did not top it up regularly.
Isn't this rather like selling someone a car and then removing its motor if
they leave it parked on their drive?
Is there another Network who does not do this?
