Hi does anyone know of any comparison sites for Mobile Phone Networks, I am
currently on
Contract with Tmobile, also have PAYG with O2, Virgin and an orange in
drawer.
I am off abroad in July (1st of my 3 trips this year) and I text a lot to
keep in touch with people,
I am wondering the best way about it, I have been trawling a few network
sites, but in the past I
knew O2 were doing an international special deal for £3 a month, well I am
wondering what the best PAYG
for using abroad is. ( I think Tmob from their site is 40p a text, 55p to
call out and receive calls a minute.)
but I think their Text rate a little high, Like I say its more for Texting
than ringing.
Cheers for any help.

Carphone Warehouse list everyones prices in the free books from their shops.

Hi
I would go with that virgin PAYG sim you have and pay for your credit
via direct debit which is basically the same as a contract but you can
cancel at any time and get cheaper international call / sms rates as a
result.
They charge 25p per SMS anywhere you are in the world and 30p per MMS
The details for PAYG by direct debit is here:
http://www.virginmobile.com/mobile/s...f_coverage.jsp
I am planning to add a PAYG tariff comparison to Mobile Checker in the
next few weeks (time permitting) to compliment the existing Contract /
Pay Monthly comparisons but the above is what I have found to be the
chepaest option so far....

Definitely a Virgin SIM on DD especially for GPRS, flat rate of £5 Mb
UK and abroad. That way you can send an email to multiple addressees
for about 5p. You can send 5 emails for the cost of one text. Or take a
pic (if you have a camera phone) and email it as an attachment to
multiple addressees for about 40p, cheaper than a postcard and less
than 2 texts. I prefer that option and only use SMS text if I really
really have have to.
Depending where you are going - take a Voda SIM and sign up to
Passport, that way you can receive an off peak (local to you off peak)
call for up to 60 mins for 75p and if you call UK local off peak you
pay 75p plus the standard UK off peak charge of 5p minute, so a 30 min
call to UK is 75p plus £1.50 which works out at just over 7p a min.
Pretty hard to beat unless you use calling cards.
I also buy local SIMs, surprising how handy they are even for just a
week.
