Is there a mobile phone network that will notify you of voicemail via email
and attach the message as a .wav file?

Don't know about that, are you looking to avoid the roaming charge?

What I do is divert my home tel to an 0870 number from YAC this saves
the voicemail as an MP3 which is emailed. I either use a local SIM for
GPRS or roam on Virgin GPRS which is a flat rate £5 Mb. So instead of
paying £1 minute to retrieve voicemail I pick up the MP3 for about
15p. With my mobile voice mail I announce that I am away and will not
pick up voice mail until I return and direct them to the 0870 number if
they really really have to speak or simply just to email me.

    Regards

No. I want members of a club to phone in, leave a message, which is then
re-distributed via email to others. I have a system set up currently but may
be looking to replace it in the near future.

I believe that is the way 3 do their voicemail. It certainly emails you,
and I'm fairly certain it contains a .wav attachment.

Vodafone voicemail can be listened to online - dial 242 from a vodafone
    handset for details.

There's a plethora of notification options.............one of which is
to get the old (orange style) tape recorder logo on the screen light
    up.

If you have a Vodafone.net e-mail account your Vodafone voice mail also
appears in your e-mail inbox as .WAV file attachments.

In that case why not use an 0870 number that has voicemail distribution
by email it will be cheaper to ring in. The problem is of course using
an email address that can cascade to several addresses. Hotpop.com will
do up to 4 but I am not aware of any more than that unless one of the 4
addresses is another hotpop which cascades etc. If you can't find an
0870 try the YAC follow me number will also do voicemail by email wav
    or mp3.

I'm currently using a sipgate number to do just this. Cheaper to call than
0870. Just not sure how reliable long-term a free service is and want to
    have a backup

The email distribution is not an issue, I can handle that.

Sipgate is actually very reliable now since the registration server
upgrades in April. They make enough money from calls made and other
sources so don't worry about it, they will be around for a while yet.

    Easy enough to do.
