K700i GPRS indicator and connection

Unlike my old SE T610, the K700i doesn't show the blue GPRS indicator (very
top left) all the time. It only seems to show it when GPRS is in use and
connection is in progress. Does anyone know if this can be changed in the
setup anywhere, so that it stays on as an indication of GPRS being available
as sometimes in poorer signal areas the T610 would remove the GPRS
indicator, telling me that GPRS wasn't available at that time...

Also, is there a way to keep the GPRS/WAP connected when you exit the
browser window, by clicking 'Exit Brower'?

I want to change between browser apps, but the connection drops between
each.

Thanks a lot

Re: K700i GPRS indicator and connection

Are you sure, my Virgin K700i shows the blue indicator when GPRS is
available, I had it unlocked and does the same with other SIMs

Regarding browser, sorry, given up trying to do clever stuff with it
that's why I got an XDA as well, I still use it as a phone.
Regards

Not particularly hard. Go to the main configuration menu(s), and head to the
connectivity menu. There's a menu roughly called 'data comm(unications)',
and 'preffered service'.

The prefferred service can be GSM & GPRS or GSM only.

GSM only means GPRS will only connect when required, which is probably best
in fairness. But as you're being picky, change it to 'GSM & GPRS' and it
will connect to GPRS constantly.

Are you on Vodafone by any chance? My K750 indicator was not on all the
time while with them but having now switched to O2 it is. Previously, my
T610 indicator was always on with Orange and T-Mobile.

Its with Orange. But the post from 'Taylor' put it right. Thanks for that
one.....

Do you have a k700i Chris?

What did you think of the T610?

I still like mine. As a phone, I think I still prefer it to the K700i
really.

But things move on and the T610 is getting a bit dated now. I replaced the
outer covers on my T610 the other week and made it look like new again...
: )
