Is there a simple (in terms of function) bit of software available that I
could use with my dongle to transfer files? If it could just make the PC
"visible" and allow me to use the send by bluetooth functions on the phone
to download photos etc - that would be fine. If it worked the same the
other way too that would be even better.

I've tried various phone managers but they don't see the dongle, don't see
the phone, or don't let me transfer files. Something very simple would do.

The software that comes with the bluetooth dongle can do all of that.
You don't need any "phone manager" crap getting in the way.

I'll have to try and wade through the "documentation" that came with the
"Toshiba Stack". (The Phone Manager that came with it was a dead loss as it
could not see the dongle!) The Toshiba/ Bluetooth manager stuff can see the
phone and connect to it as a serial line and wants to set up the modem, but
I have not found the way to make the PC visable when sending files. The
Phone can see the PC when looking for devices like headsets etc, but not
    sending files.

I have a tosh Tecra 9100 from work, and I don't think it supports file
    transfer.

I purchased a £5 Safecom dongle from Ebuyer that came with IVT Bluesoleil
software and it works great with my nokia for transfering files, and also my
BT headset for Skype / Messenger. However the synchronize function does not
work for some reason so I have to use Nokia PC suite for that, and for
    installing applications on the phone.

My Bluetooth dongle has an icon in the systray, right mouse button 'receive
a file', or double click it
to open up customise and send.
