Weird SMS problem

I'm on Vodafone using an 8800. I had a couple of saved text messages on
my SIM card. After a while (read several hours), I found that one of
the messages became corrupted. In the message list it is displayed as
"(not available)" and instead of the sender's phone number it shows the
words "Text message". When I try to read the messsage, it is blank.

This problem happens periodically, but it has also recreated itself on
another phone, a 6021. So far, I have not been able to recover my
message contents. Vodafone think this is a SIM card problems and have
sent me a new one out. Has anyone got any ideas or seen this in the
past?

Hi,

It does sound like a sim card issue if you're replicating the fault on
different mobiles. Connecting your number up to a new sim card may help
stop this from happening with future messages.

The only time I've heard of something similar before was a sim
receiving a message which exceeded the sim capacity, hence the text
would not display, but this was deemed a one off and an abnormality.

I work for Vodafone and if you still have problems it's possible to go
to www.vodafone.co.uk, select the 'contact us' field then email. If you
describe your problem and then including the code FIT135 in the body of
your email it'll be automatically be rooted to the relevant department
and somebody who can help you

Thanks for the reply, Minerva.
When my SIM arrives from them, I will let you know if the problem
re-occurs. FWIW, I have used Vodafone's contact us from their web site
before and they were superb. They called me back straight away and
sorted everything out in no time.
