Anyone had any dealings with coolnewmobile.co.uk?
They have some good cashback deals, but I want to make sure they are legit
before I take the plunge.
Cheers

The terms and conditions look very similar to the phoneboxdirect deal
that you've been advised away from in another thread.
I ordered a phone however.
Having had a few problems with the Motorola SLVR [1][2][3] I decided to
take the hit and return it under the terms of their 7-day return. Yes it
would cost me £20, but it could cost me a lot more if I cocked up the
cashbacks
So I called CNM on the number on the website. Quickly answered, but
couldn't find my reference no. Once they'd sussed it was an Orange
contract I was given the number of CNM's Orange care line.
Called CNM's Orange care line. Again answered quickly and very helpful
lady agreed the return was reasonable, but as they'd actually fulfilled
my contract using Vanilla Mobile, I needed to go through to them and
game me the Vanilla Mobile number.
I called the Vanilla Mobile number and it was answered with an automated
"welcome to a carphone warehouse company", then quickly answered again
by a person in Vanilla Mobile's care line that straight away gave me the
number of Vanilla Mobile's returns line...
So I called the VM cancellation line and remarkably was answered quickly
again. The lady that answered was very helpful, but could only take my
details as all of the returns team were in a meeting. She took my number
for when they got out of the meeting, and marked it all as urgent as she
understood that I was on the last day of my 7-day return period.
I didn't get a call back.
Unfortunately by this point we were having a bit of a family crisis and
I had to take my nipper to A&E and all thoughts of returns and contracts
were far from the front of my mind.
By the time I was able to get my mind back to the phone, the 7day period
was up and I was in to the £200 plus your firstborn or whatever
cancellation zone. Now the only option was to complete the contract and
try to claim the cashback accurately.
Now, the contract started on the 14th of this month, and the first
Orange bill came later dated the 15th. So it's a straightforward month
in advance.
I wanted to clarify the operation of the cashback, to see if it really
was the bill after 120 days, or the bill that showed connection at 120
days (5th or 4th respectively) as of course submitting the wrong one
gets you a £10 fine and no cashbacks. So last night I e-mailed CNM's
Orange care department asking for clarification.
So far I've not heard anything.
I've not got a very warm feeling, it has to be said.
[1] reception in my house is not as good as it is with either of my
older phones, all on Orange,
[2] screen cannot be seen in daylight
[3] frustratingly Orange couldn't switch on line2 which I would need to
use the phone interchangeably with my OVP-V/ED50 SIM

Hi
Well, in my personal opinion... find another company.
I was fed up of their constant cold calling and told the telesales
people time and time again that I was a telephone preference service
subscriber. Basically, any company calling TPS numbers is in breach of
current legislation. I don't like companies that think they can do as
they please regardless of legislation and use loopholes like foreign
call-centres to get around it.
Neither do I think much of any company that calls a number four times
over four days even when they know they shouldn't. Moreover, the sales
personnel don't give you their name or hang up if you ask for the
company address and telephone number. Great customer service eh?
I tracked down their website. The company address is a PO Box. So
where are they? I rang the only option given on the site. I went
round in circles trying to get info out of them and failing.
However, it seems I'm not the only person who resents their methods.
TPS have already had lots of complaints.
If it were me, I'd suss out a reputable company with a shop you can
walk into and who are not cagey about who they are "affiliated" with
and who they actually are, and who are happy to provide customers with
a name and address for complaints.

associated with that PO box

thanks soweezy. I'll try that. Still confused as to who they actually
are as their address suggests an affiliate network and they seem to have
a hundred names !!!
