A slightly unusual request..

Greetings, Citizens.

My contract is up for renewal and I have slightly different criteria
from most people when choosing what to do next.

I need to have a mobile phone for work and they do not supply company
mobiles (unless you're a director), we are expected to use our own.
Tightwads.

We can claim for the cost of calls as expenses, and if our company calls
exceed our personal calls in a given month they will reimburse the line
rental charges as well.

This doesn't work well for me as I don't spend a lot of time out of the
factory (so seldom rack up enough call charges to be able to claim back
the monthly cost), but if I do it is often in remote locations or
abroad. I may not be able to top-up a pay as you go phone, and wouldn't
be able to claim back anything anyway as you don't get a bill (try
claiming that as exes and see how far you get).

My problem is that I could quite happily live without a mobile phone for
personal use, or would just have a pay as you go one for the rare
occasions it would be handy.

Therefore, my ideal price plan would be one that costs as little per
month as possible, (£0.01 would be good) and sod the cost of calls. If
it's itemised and justifiable then accounts can't refuse to pay it,
perhaps after a few months of getting screwed over the company would
rethink its policy.... grrr.

Any thoughts on what would fit my needs best? I'm fed up with paying
£200 a year on something that the company sees 90% of the benefit of.
All suggestions welcome...

Cheers,

Wintermute

Virgin PAYG by direct debit.

No line rental, and you get a paper bill.

Tell them you do not have a mobile and have no need for one. Other than
that get a rent free type package mentioned in this group. That sounds like
a crap company to work for.

Sounds good. I'll look into that.

Some PAYG deals give you itemised call lists, even if you have to
download them from the web. You, like many other people, would be
better off on a PAYG than on a contract.
