Orange - what a joke - bye-bye!

Just phoned and spoke to bloke in Orange cancellations/retentions dept.
I'm currently on 500mins/120text for £25. Asked for my PAC and he has issued
it.
Then asked if they have anything to offer to keep me for another 12 months
and all they can offer is 30 texts. My 120 texts end Jan 2007 so for another
whole year all Orange can give me is 30 texts to keep my custom.
What a joke. I know I am not a big business spender, but it's like a slap in
the face. And...no nice new phone on offer at all.
They would only start "playing nice" and offer 650mins/1100 texts and free
phone on 18 month contract (I just cannot do 18 at this time!)
Seems I'll be shopping around.
Any advice/recommendations please...?
Thanks very much.
PS - Orange used to offer so much now they seem to cut so much out.for

Where are you going now then? Only similar deal is 1000 mins for £35
with o2/T-Mobile , but that's 18 month.

Yeah - I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. It *is* a
pity that Orange (and others) see my £25 as paltry/non-profitable to them.

Consider PAYG

At the moment the cheapest way to call mobiles is 4p a min from a BT
landline using a 0844 number. Minimum charge 5p of course, plus the
time to connect being counted.

So Orange were doing you 5p per minute, from a mobile, direct and not
through a dialthrough number..

Unless you can find a better deal, I'd go back to them and discontinue
the cancellation!

I'm asking for 500 mins + 500 texts for £25 in August when my contract
comes up for renewal. Will try and squeeze out a new phone, but would
be grateful just to be on that tariff.

Remember you can use Orange Wednesday codes every week and that will
cost Orange another £5er a week

What phone do you think you can ask for? I was offered:
samsung 7360
sagem my401
samsung e800
samsung e350
samsung c120
none of which "wow" me.
It *would* be nice to stay on the 500 mins if I can get more texts. Any
suggestions as how to push for more texts? Heck...I suppose *any* "free"
phone is better than nowt eh!

The Nokia is clearly the best bet, would make your contract
£300 - £100 = £200 for 12 months, £16.66/month so 3.3p/minute.

Maybe...she said Samsung to me. I did have a quick look and didn't see a
Samsung with that model number so she must've meant Nokia.
Still...tempted to port out and get a nice SE M600i from MobileShop
(http://www.mobileshop.com/mobile-pho...son-m600i.php).

The O2 10 months ½ line sounds brilliant to me
(http://www.mobileshop.com/mobile-pho...PNEWO2M6000007)
unless of course I am not reading enough small print! Ha ha!
What do you think?

But not Orange, which is around the poorest value PAYG plan. Just like
their contracts, come to think about it!

Re: Orange - what a joke - bye-bye!

On a similiar note. Following my hassle over the past year with Orange
charging me for a service I was not even subscribed to, Orange TV.
Last month Orange CS finally decided to ring me to let me know that
they could not refund the billing error this month as they were
confident I had used the service in May.

It turned out that because I followed the advice of a previous
teletubby to download the app again and try to unsubsrcibe notched up a
"download" which they had to charge for. I could not get her to see
that I did this on their instruction.

I asked to be put straight through to Customer retentions to ask for my
PAC code and buy out of the remaining contract of five months. She
came back after being on hold for 5 minutes stating that "everyone in
Customer retentions is busy". I mentioned to her that given how pants
Orange has been since owned by France telecom, no wonder they were
overloaded with requests to leave.

Further air blowing about them losing a 10 year dedicated customer, no
effort to retain my business blah blah fell on deaf teletubby ears.

I port out next week to 3, 1200mins 800texts at £22.50 for the first
six months.

Goodbye Orange may you sink quicker than the stone wrapped in concrete
falling to the bottom of the pacific!

I saw an offer similar to that with a 6280 which was double minutes and
texts for six months.
