Vodafone SMS PAYT problems

Today I have had problems receiving SMS messages on my phone (Motorola
L6), but I could send ok, eventually I would a receive one SMS message
at a time if I made a call.

Anyway the nice people at Vodafone customer care explained my phone has
not updated itself on their network since the 8th July, so I would need
to manually register my phone to the Vodafone network. Through the
network settings on the phone.

I did this a couple of times then the text messages started coming back
in again.

They gave me a variety of reasons why this could happen including:

1. Leaving phone switched on 24/7
2. Weak signal moving to a stronger signal
3. Stronger signal moving to a weaker signal.

I was on o2 before I came to vodafone, and never had a problem like
this at all.

I was wondering if this fault is common on vodafone?

It will be a pain if I have to keep going through this network
registering thing again, not to mention the inconvenience of delayed
text messages!

Not for me on T39m then K750i.

i've never had a problem, probably just temporary. You can find out when
you last updated by typing *#105#. The 1st date and time is GSM network,
and second GPRS.
