E61, searching contacts etc.

Recently replaced Treo 270 with an E61. Rather surprised by feeble search
facility (on Treo search for "dentist" will find both the contact number and
the calendar entry for next appointment).

Big problem is contacts; it will find company names if there is no named
individual but not otherwise, and it doesn't search notes fields. Can anyone
recommend third party software?

Nice phone though and build quality feels good.

You have downgraded from a proper PDA with a phone in it to a modern
toy. What else can you expect?

I've only had it for a week but i'm very impressed by it so far. Both as a
phone and a PDA. As a PDA it still has some weaknesses sure (search and
calendar being the two main ones) but there are third party applications
available to make up for it. For searching, have a look at Mobile Search
for example: <http://www.sept-solutions.com/English/search.php>. Haven't
tried it yet so can't comment.

Well, I had a couple of reasonable years out of a pair of 270s, but I had to
repair both hinges, both speaker leads, both batteries. Since I can't be the
only person who uses them as external memory there must be some "search"
apps out there.

That looks good; finds everything though the demo version doesn't seem to
jump to a selected entry (have queried). Thanks for the link, Mehdi.
