I borrowed a 6310i from a friend a while back and have since forgotten
the security code. I'm near M1 J30 and if I recall correctly you're
near M1 J31. Would you be able to do an unlock without doing the
    postal thing?

    Thanks

No, because there was no code when I borrowed it. It is I that has
forgotten the code since I handed it back.

And I'm hoping Mr Colton can present the solution! I'm just reluctant
to post a phone to someone who's 10mins down the road.

Not quite, I'm at Junction 33 (ish) in Rotherham. Drop me a mail, if we can
organise a convenient time I'll be happy to do it for you FOC.

Look at you, you big swinger!!

Can't you use infrared and the usual software to just read the phone's
    current security code?

I had an interesting experience where the acutal set security code wouldn't
work most of the time. Very very strange indeed... If you can find a laptop
with IRDA, i'm sure someone here more knowledgable than myself can direct
you as to how to read the current security code. I can't remember the name
of the software, but I'm sure it exists for that handset.
