This Nokia 3510i is an old phone now. It is (or at least used to be)
possible to get a device that you could attach to it for sending SMS,
and I used to have one.
It arrived without any instructions and it took me a while to work out
how to attach it to the phone. It needed to be installed into the
battery compartment, and then the battery was inserted into the device.
It meant taking the back off the phone and fiddling around every time I
wanted to connect it to my PC.

That would be standard AT commands? AFAIK the Nokia 3510i doesn't use
them.
I think I'd advise trading the Nokia 3510i in for something else if you
want to hook your mobile up to your PC.
Beware that Motorola phones aren't able to do 'smart messaging' via a
cable, which means no long SMS.
