I know this is an oft-repeated question, but I wondered if somebody could suggest a solution;
I just tried to upgrade on T-Mobile, but I also wanted to change the tarrif as well (to a more
expensive one).
On the T-mobile website I can get the K800i with Flext 25 + web'n'walk for a handset cost of £19.99.
However, to move to the *exact same contract* as an upgrade would cost me £169.99(!)
I used the website to write to the 'complaints' department, but the reply I got was just that that was
their position and they weren't going to change.
Obviously I can't get a new contract and migrate my number across (or is there a way to do this that
customer services aren't telling me?) but is there some way to persuade them to reduce the cost of
the upgrade to that of the new contract?
Many thanks for any advice you can offer,

I might be wrong but can't you port the number to PAYG (Orange, O2 or Voda),
then cancel the contract? Then get the new deal with a new contract, and
port the number back?

Re: T-mobile upgrade?
That is exactly what you can do. I did. I got a free O2 sim to do it, took
about 2 weeks in total. There are plenty of free sim PAYG offers.

Ahh, I didn't realise I could port in and out of a PAYG number (except Virgin). I will look into it, but is
there anything special / pitfalls I should look out for (except T-Mobile not accepting me back,
although I do have 3.5 years of bills paid by direct debit)?

I doubt you'll have any problems. I have ported my number from Orange, to
T-Mobile, to 3 and now back to T-Mobile without any problems.

Was this on PAYG? (That is my concern, that all of a sudden they decide I can't migrate out of the
PAYG)

Port to Virgin and then back into your new T-Mobile contract. When I
ported from T-Mobile to Virgin it all happened within about 1 minute; I
guess because Virgin are using the T-Mobile network it's easy.
T-Mobile actually advised me to port out and back in to get a better
deal. Virgin seem to handle porting very well, you won't have a problem
getting your PAC when you are ready to go back to T-Mobile.

No, contract. That's why I'm not too sure.
