I'm thinking about switching from the usual 121 voicemail to the 242
service as this would allow me to receive voicemail messages in my email
while travelling and avoid the costs of calling into my voicemail
account from abroad. *(I understand it would also provide an email
account and fax number that I don't need.)

Is the switchover straightforward? *Has anyone had any concerns over
    reliability?

    Thanks.

Switch over was instant for me. I like the fact that it also enables
the tape recorder icon like Orange's VM.

I can dial 121 or 242 to listen to messages, or as you know, online.

Thanks. Forgot to ask: would the tape icon thing work on a Treo?

    Yes.

Anyone found a way to auto forward the email containing the audio file
to an external mail account, rather than pulling everything into the
vodafone.net account? i've setup out of office to an alternate address
but it only appears to work for emails sent to my [email protected],
    rather than my voicemails.
i'd like to get emailed my voicemails direct to my work account...
