    Ouch.

I only use EasyMobile to call one other EasyMobile customer. When they
stop offering 3p/min calls to other EasyMobile customers, at the end of
the year, we'll both switch back to using T-Mobile's Mate Rates.

I don't pay 75p a month. If I did it would prove to me I had no real
    need for a mobile phone.

    YMMV

There are people out there that only need it for mainly incoming calls,
and make most calls from the landline.

I paid £3 for a SIM and they gave me £33 credit. Can't complain. I use
    it just to text people.

Indeed it does. Some people only need a phone for emergencies. Doesn't
mean they don't need it when that emergency arises though.

I have a spare phone in my car glovebox, I keep it there in case I forget
my main phone if for example I have to leave in a hurry for work or
something. It hasn't made a call in over a year, but I might need it one
day. Why should I have to pay for calls not made..?

I don't think you're the sort of customer easyMobile is after.
Presumably their 75p charge is to discourage people like you from
    joining.

Having said that, I know someone who receives hundreds of incoming call
minutes per month, but probably only makes about five short calls during
the period. So the 75p charge can even penalise customers who do use
    their mobile phone a lot.

Precisely, and you've just shot down your own argument.

Why, I wonder, do other networks not feel the need to implement penalising
    charges such as this..?

It would be better if you had to spent £1 on calls a month, if not they
    took the pound anyway.

It was more an observation than an argument.

    >Why, I wonder, do other networks not feel the need to implement penalising

easyMobile isn't a network, as such. Perhaps there is a 'service
charge' for each customer levied on them by T-Mobile.

easyMobile isn't strictly PAYG, it's a contact tariff: customers have to
pass a credit check and it appears to be possible for them to have a
negative balance, ironically for not using the service. Most mobile
contracts do have a monthly charge. One way to look at it: in
easyMobile's case there's a 'line rental' charge of 75p a month which is
only payable if you haven't spent GBP5 during the previous three months.

    aol

Got one for my 14 yr old daughter with the first 'giveaway'.

One of her mates asked her how does she top up .... she didn't know the
answer coz it's never been topped up (which isn't bad for a teenager!!).
