This is the one where you get a free phone and pay 10 GBP/month PAYG for
    a zillion minutes... http://tinyurl.com/yepolb (or
    <http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/genericContent.do?contentId=vm.with.cable.brochure.shop.sm241>

I'm trying to work out whether (as anm existing cable customer) there's
anything to stop you from signing up for the phone deal offer, then
cancelling after the first month and then just keeping the phone? As far
as I can see there isn't, but as usual reading the T&Cs is like wading
    through treacle...

    Thanks

?? Its not a PAYG phone, its contract. You get a £30 a month contract
    for £10

Though I think if you have the "free phone" you have to pay your way out
    before 12 months.

Plus you can only get the free Lobster phone if you have the 3 for £30
    Cable deal.

    What you get

Pick any cable service you like and get a great deal from Virgin
Mobile. Or get all 4 for just £40 a month.

Broadband - from the UK's number one

    *
It's unlimited, so you can use it as much as you like - unlike
    BT.
    *
Nearly 35 times faster than dial-up.

    Digital TV - next generation

    *
All the top channels including Sky One, E4, ITV2 and CBeebies.
    *
Instant access to a library of over 500 films and TV shows.

    Home phone - great value

    *
Unlimited weekend calls - to any UK landline (for the same price
you pay just for BT line rental).
    *
You can usually keep your own number - they'll even contact BT on
your behalf to arrange the switch.

Mobile phone deal - half price

    *
    Keep the phone you've got.
    *
Swap to an exclusive monthly tariff - pay half the usual price.
    *
    Get 300 texts and 300 minutes for £10 a month (normally £20)
    *
Use your calls and texts to any UK mobile network, any time.

Right, so you are saying to get the free phone you must also take at
    least 2 other services?

As not to get the free phone and just have the SIM you only need one
    other service.

How they call Home Phone great value I fail to see. They never mention
that for your £11 on BT you pay a fixed fee of 5.5p for an hour in the
evenings and at weekends. That is less than their 6p connection charge
during the weekday evenings, and on top of that they charge you 3p/min,
soon cancels out the free weekend calls in my books. Also ignores
people like Primus who will give you free evening and weekend calls for
no charge if you have BT line.

20 min call on NTL/Telewest on a Monday evening 66p on BT 5.5p.

20 min call on NTL/Telewest at the weekend 0p on BT 5.5p.

    Rant over

Oops, yes sorry - that's where I saw the offer; I thought I'd found the

How do you mean, "pay your way out"? Can't see anything about this in
    the T&C

I already have home phone/broadband/cable TV so presumably this card was
    targeted at me...

Still don't know whether I can get the Lobster phone (hey - like the
sound of that ;-) ) and stop the direct debit after 1 month and keep the
    phone though?

Reading the website (granted not directly linked to this offer mentioned
within this thread, but it could well be the same terms).

    http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/viewP...7-3C32653C2662

*Choosing the Pay Monthly SIM only introductory offer?*

There are 3 tariffs to choose from as part of this introductory offer,
available until 31/10/06. Unlike a contract, there's no minimum term and
no ties. After your first month, you're free to leave when you choose.

    *Prefer a Pay Monthly contract?*

You'll get twice as many minutes and texts with selected tariffs when
you buy online. That's compared to the standard tariffs in other
retailers, for as long as you stay a Pay Monthly customer. Or go for our
special online £25 tariff for big texters!
Your Pay Monthly contract comes with a phone and lasts for 12 months
initially. If you'd like to cancel your contract at any time, you can.
You'll just need to give us a month's notice, and pay off the monthly
payments to the end of your contract.
Please note you can only buy one contract at a time.

Yes this is from a Virgin Mobile offer and not the ntl:TW customer
offer, but maybe there are similar terms.

Or maybe ntl:TW are happy to give a phone away?
