Bought a V3 off fleecebay, it's locked on O2, but when I put either my
contract O2 sim in or my son's PAYG sim in it just states unregistered
sim, any ideas anybody?

There's your answer. It's been blocked; someone's reported it stolen, either
the seller, of the person the seller stole it off.
If you're sure no SIM that works in it, it's the phone. Use a search engine,
and you get a few different answers regarding this, but at the mention of
'ebay' and 'bought a mobile' - the outlook doesn't look brilliant.

Could be but they did send charger, case etc, so I suspect not but who
knows, anywhere I can check the EMEI number & get Police involved if
that is the case?

It's blacklisted most likely. Call O2 and ask them.

Some people can get mobile insurance, claim their phone was stolen, then get
another one free. Perhaps this was the incentive for someone to lie to you.
The 'IMEI' number has been blocked, but you could always just phone your
service provider (o2? vodafone? etc), or just any of the big 4 mobile
networks in the UK, and ask if the IMEI has been blocked.
Did you pay by 'paypal', cash or cheque on ebay? You can get the police
involved the minute the networks state it was blocked. It'd be helpful to
know why it was blocked, bu that may have not been recorded by some
networks. I'd email the seller and ask first thuogh. How many 'stars' do
they have? Is this the first time they've ever sold an item? Sometimes
accounts get compromised, and the person you think is the seller isn't
actually - but I'd say in the majority of cases, the seller is just a joker.

Tried to call O2 but got stuck in their press 1 for this press 2 for the
other & eventually followed the handset option, there was no logical
option so tried repairs only to find them closed LOL.
Payment was paypoo so unless there's a refund I'll put it in dispute. As
to Police we'll have to see what the seller says.

You want the "lost and stolen" line. This is always manned (should be
anyway!).
