Just been cleaning out my wife's car and finally managed to track down
all the components of a Nokia car kit that was fitted by a previous
    owner.

I've found the speaker, microphone (to be fair, I knew those bits were
there anyway) and an HFU-2 control box.

All the bits are currently residing in my garage.

The question is, what can I do with it?

My business phone is a 6230i and my personal phone varies - but I do
have a Nokia 7600 kicking around somewhere.

I was kind of thinking of installing it in my classic car, but suspect a
kit of this age won't work with newer phones (the HFU-2 was probably
fitted to her car when it was new back in '99).

    Cheers,

Do you have the cradle..? IIRC the HFU2 is for the CARK-91 kit which is
for the 6310i and predecessors. I have one in my car but the control box
is hidden behind stuff so not easy to move to check.

No, the cradle has been removed, unfortunately. Whoever did it just
hacked through the wiring rather than unplugging it, too.

It appears that the only thing missing is the cradle, though, everything
    else is there.

I suspect what you'll need is a pop port converter cable

    (e.g.
    http://www.fonejunkie.com/Cark91-Nok...able-pr-634.ht
    ml)

    and a suitable Nokia holder - MBC-15S

You may find though that you actually get best results using the holder
with a car charger (the holder connects to the car kit or car charger).
This gives you a convenient place for your phone to sit and get charged,
and then you can use a bluetooth headset.

Sod that - total cost is around the same as buying a CK-7W on ebay.

I refused to use a bluetooth headset, 'cos they make you look like a
    cock.

    Actually that probably should be:

    http://www.fonejunkie.com/Nokia-Conv...ARK-91-CARK-10
    9-pr-752.html

I had one of the non-genuine converter cables and it failed very quickly
