Last week I was looking at getting the N73 on O2, online tariff cost £25 per
month, 12 month contract phone cost £29.99
Also looked at the N80 same tariff phone cost £49.99
just looked this week and the costs of the phones on 18 month contracts have
gone up to £59.99 for the N73 and £129 for the N80
Anyone know whats going on here?

The SP's are going in for more preferred supplier deals and aiming to cut
commissions. For third party suppliers (P4U, CPW etc.), this means that
there is less commission to use to subsidise phones so their prices will go
up. Online prices can then be raised as well.
A good excuse to buy the phone "SIM free" and get a better deal on service.

Surely phones like the ones mentioned would cost an arm and a leg still
though?

Blimey, you're right. They've changed the design of the website, and put the
prices up in the process.
I got an N73 last week for £29.99 and £25/month for 12 months. I'm glad I
didn't wait now!

You'll pay for it one way or the other...
