Why is it where carphonewarehouse are concerned everything is hard work?

Did an insurance claim, for which I pay £32.95 a quarter for, I then had
to pay a £29.50 excess, fine, I knew about this and it was a PDA Phone
    that I lost.

Claim accepted, went to local store to pick one up, none in stock, they
then send me to a business park that doesn't even have a carphone on it,
finally find out where this store is, get there, and they try to fob me
off with a used phone. When I say used, I don't care if it has been
opened just to show a customer, it's an O2 exec, there was no cover
on the screen, and it was totally covered in finger prints all over
the touch sensitive screen? How many people would have accepted that
in all honesty? Not when I pay £11 a month to insure it, NO WAY!

Anyway, before this gets out of hand, they agreed to post me one out
instead, comes today, no sim card. Call customer services, they can't
send one out, they put me through to sales, they want to charge me £15,
they put me through to insurance, hold for 25 minutes, then to be told
they close at 7pm. Why should I pay £15 for a sim card when I've
already paid my excess? And why can't customer services just post me
    one out for goodness sakes?

They really are quite hopeless, especially for a service that costs more
    than with ANY other company.

They don't come with a cover on the screen.

It might have been demonstrated to a customer briefly. It's impossible
to do that without touching it and the screen is very easy to
fingerprint. Wipe the screen and hard reset - nothing to worry about.

    I would have.

Your policy may only cover the handset? Some do you know.

Why is it that the one they posted out to me did then? Every PDA's
I've ever bought, wheather it be a smart phone or just a PDA has
come with a cover on the screen, it's got all the EULA agreement
on it, basically by switching on you accept the windows licence
    agreement etc etc blah!

I've had 5 windows mobile devices and none of them have had an EULA on
the screen. It's been on the CD which contains activesync and outlook.
Maybe different networks package them differently?

My M5000 on Orange did not come with a screen peel-off in place, nor did
my M3100. The C500, C550 and Original SPV did come with the usual peel-
    off.

I was simply offering my own experiences.

One of things I would demonstrate is the ability to touch the screen
with your finger, for example when dialling a number manually. No need
to use the stylus for that.

The point was that you said It's impossible to demonstrate to a customer
without touching the screen with your finger, that clearly is not true, as
it could be demonstrated to a customer using the handy built-in stylus. I
think maybe you were trying to say that, the presence of finger marks on the
screen are not in themselves an indication of the amount of use the unit has
suffered since the screen will show finger marks after only a few
demonstrations. Although I'd agree, it doesn't prove anything either way.
Although the Exec is well made who knows what unknown abuse it may have
suffered particularly to the swivel screen mechanism having seen customers
try to force it round the wrong way! Having paid insurance the OP was right
to expect something better than that.
