Re: Nokia N95 on Orange in UK
Which networks is it going to be released on?
Which forthcoming Nokia N series phones are going to be released on
Orange?
Cheers.

There are currently no N-series Nokias shown in the "coming soon" bit.
And a damned good thing too. They are more trouble than they are worth
(from a retailer point of view).

Re: Nokia N95 on Orange in UK
I've not contacted Orange because Orange Customer Services always seems
to be very unreliable with information about forthcoming phones. I've
always found dealers to be far more knowledgeable.
Please explain why you think the N series are more trouble than they
are worth. My current dilemma is whether to get the Sony Ericsson P990i
or wait for the Nokia N95. I'm on Orange and really don't want to
change networks. My last 3 phones were Sony Ericsson and I've always
had Nokia before that. The N95 tempted me back to Nokia from the
pre-release reviews I've read.
Cheers!

Software problems. Out of every 10 we sell I reckon we get problems with
3 or 4 of them. That's way too high.

You'll be waiting a long time as Orange have no plans to do it.

Is this just N series phones, or any Nokia Series 60/symbian handset,
in which case does Orange's seemingly current standing also cover E
series phones and could it affect their decision to carry the 6290
when it is released early next year.
I feel the need to ask, as i'm an Orange customer who does prefer the
Symbian/series 60 Nokia handsets (had a 6630, now N70), and will be
sorely disappointed if Orange cease to offer future models as and when
they are relased by Nokia.

Re: Nokia N95 on Orange in UK
Had this back from Orange...
Thank you for your mail
I can confirm that the Nokia N95 is not currently
under review by Orange and I have been unable to ascertain
whether it will be released in the future.
I am sorry that I cannot assist on this occasion.
Kind regards

I've yet to use one for more than 5 minutes but it seems OK. We've only
had one back (the very first one we sold). I had a P800 and a P900 and I
would take the 990 over a symbian Nokia any day of the week.

I was commenting specifically on the N95. As for the N-series in general
I imagine they will be carrying some of them in the future although I do
not know.

Again, I don't get to see that far ahead.

OK thanks for that....
I guess the N95 was doomed given the experiences of the spiritual
predecessor the N80.
It'll be interesting to see if some independents do offer the N95 on
Orange though... as I recall, the 3250 was offered on Orange by
carphone warehouse, although I've no idea if that was specially
branded stock or the same generic handsets they were using for O2/Voda
etc.

Fir it be offered it still has to be "approved" by Orange. I doubt the
N95 will ever attain that status. It's not even in the "in review"
section on the intranet which means they're not even looking at it.

Re: Nokia N95 on Orange in UK
Apparently, www.e2save.co.uk (CPW's online network) stock phones from
popular manufacturers so you can usually get phones the networks don't
provide directly or through their main retailers, a major plus with
this is they're also unlocked to all networks when you receive them
because they're from generic stock.
