Re: Apple iPhone
Ive had apple ipods, the 4gb mini and my partner brought me a nano!
i would have an mac except it isnt compatiable with my dyslexia
software for my uni work.
Some people have commented how the phone only has a 2mb camera!
So what, the iPhone, may only have a 2mb camera, but look at the
onboard photo mgt software, easy resizing!
It may not have 3G, well i dont really need 3G, i dont make video
calls, i dont really use any 3G services on my phone at the moment, so
i dont care! I prefer the wi-fi instead - it means then that i can
connect to uni wireless in, lectures, the canteen, the su bar, even
weathespoons are offering free wireless!
This phone (in my opinion) is being marketed as a business phone,
and remember this phone is at least 5 years more advanced than any
other smart phone (according to steve jobs) and apple have filled over
200 patents on this phone!
one last thing, somebody once said that the iPod would never catch on
and that nobody will pay for music (i.e iTunes)
(i'l try and reference that quote when i have time to find out who said
it!!!!!)

On the subject of famous - and slightly inaccurate - quotes, here's a
couple for you to check. Who said :-
"The internet is a passing fad."
"64kb of internal memory should be enough for any computer application"
???

They have 3G but a bit different than it is in Europe. But in iPhone
you have also Wi-Fi included so what for do you need 3G?? For video
conference you can use Wi-Fi network and it works even better than in
3G.
Cheers!

Great. And for those few times when you're *not* within range of a
wifi signal? Do you actually live in the UK?

If just the nutters bought them, then Apple will be very happy . I dont
think this will be as big as the iPod. A lot of people were sceptical about
the iPod, but it was a HUGE success. Apple are now using that kudos to sell
the iPhone. The iPhone will not be as big as the iPod, it wont even be the
most popular phone. As a money making device though I think Apple will do
well out of it.
Personally I dont see me buying one.

Are you insane? It's being marketed as child's toy. It *is* a toy. If
it were a business phone it would have some measure of security, some
actual buttons, 3G, an emphasis on communication not entertainment.
There's no way this would work as a serious business phone.
>and remember this phone is at least 5 years more advanced than any

The only innovations I can see are the gesture control, large storage
and the lack of buttons. There are far more advanced WM5 products out
there than this. OK, they may not offer the OS stability, but the
feature set is poor by comparison. My Tytn will do today pretty much
everything the iPhone does and more, plus it has 3G and a keyboard. I
wouldn't swap my old Treo 650 for an iPhone!

Ironically, in those circumstances you might well be out of the 3G coverage
too :-)

Re: Apple iPhone
Reasons for the the phone being a business phone
1) Easier in-call management - call confrencing
2) Google Maps app
3) wi-fi
granted the photo software maybe a bit of fun as well, but it has a
serious side to it, you can crop and delete unwnted imagery from the
photo
it has a 'better' contacts list
plus the phone isnt free!!!!!!!
im not saying im right, im just stating my opinion!!!!

I'm not saying that either (that you're right), just questioning your
ability to decide whether this would make a good business phone given
that you aren't actually in full time employment.
