and remember this phone is at least 5 years more advanced than any
other smart phone (according to steve jobs) and apple have filled over
200 patents on this phone!
as you said, it's certainly not 5 years ahead in technology terms - it's
behind the times.
as for the software - you'd have to know what the next five years will
bring!
add to this the fact that apple have now said nobody can write software for
the phone without their say so and you have something for the apple fanatics
only.
oh and touch screens are horrid compared to real buttons - that's a fact.

Or that a sentence very rarely, if ever, requires more than one
exclamation mark.

remember when mobile phones were not really mobile? - when you needed to
stand near a base station - the sort that rabbit did.
now that seems so quaint.
i wonder if in the future wi-fi networks will seem the same - we will have
proper roaming mobile internet and the idea of having to stand near to a
wi-fi station will seems bizarre.

The iPod was a flop until iTunes for Windows and the Minis.
I had the 5GB original mac only, still going strong although it's been
given to a relative, so I had an excuse to get a new one.

Anything can blow a picture up, but it needs very good quality to start
with if it's going to be blown up. The more you blow it up the more
pixelated it will become.

It's not being marketed at all. It's barely just been announced.

So not biased at all then. SO advanced that it doesn't have MMS, a basic
network service by todays standards?

Indeed it is, unfortunately wifi has a very limited range, and requires
new installations whereas 3G networks already exist and cover vastly
more ground than wifi.

Easier than what? Conference calling is a standard feature that has been
around for yonks. Have you ever actually had a conference call on a
mobile?

Why does that make it a business phone?

Posting above the previous comment, not below it which is the correct
way.

So you're not in full time employment then, and hardly likely to be
using your mobile for business purposes on a full time basis.

The ability to edit pictures would not be high on most business users
lists.

I'd guess that public wi-fi coverage is well under 1% of the UK. 3G
coverage is at about 80%.

This is how to reply to a question. See, it comes after the question,
not before it.
By the way, you should never use more than one exclamation mark at a
time.

Who needs public wifi coverage when there's so much free private wifi?

Well, obviously that there is a lot of new tech in this phone. I'd
probably wait a few iterations before buying one, the next one is bound
to have VoIP or something built in.
