Bluetooth carkit recommendations

Hi anyone got any recommendations for a Bluetooth handsfree car kit ? I want
a decent quality one , surfed a few sites but I would like a view from
someone who as used one.

I have a CK3300 GPS and its very good. Excelemt featurs, good call quality
and good compatibility with various phones. You can even upgrade the
firmware via bluetooth from a laptop.

What phone do you have?

Funny that I was looking at the Parrot range today but not this model . My
phone is a Nokia 6310i and looking
to fit it in my new BMW . Did you fit it yourself or get the dealer to do
it.Will look at this model on the web.

I used to have a Parrot CK3100 and had no problems.

I now use a Parrot Minikit - great bit of kit and you can move from car
to car.

I've used a CK3100 for arouns 2 years now. Has never has a problem and
works well.

They are supposed to be easy to fit but I had a mobile fitting outfit do the
job. I would get one outfit to both supply and fit then there is no
arguments about wrong parts etc.

Remember that it will gave to be connected to your radio for sound and radio
mute, personally I would let a professional sort it out.

I would also look at Brodit for their brackets that don't require any holes
in your dash. Buet there again with the Parrot you could just leave your
phone in your pocket.

If you've got a 6310i forget BT, go for the original Nokia CARK-91. Far
superior and you get the added benefit of an external aerial socket,
something sadly lacking on most if not all new phones nowadays.

CARK-91 kits are usually cheap and plentiful on eBay, but if you have
trouble locating one let me know, a friend has just removed one from a car
he sold and may be willing to part with it.

Because he has two cars and is only going to need the phone in one of
them.

Because the buyer of the car didn't want it and he might just find a use
for it one day..? Just speculating, I don't know for sure.

I'm not sure what you mean by "decent quality". If you want some kind of
all-singing gear that will mute the radio, etc., my own experience won't
help.

I got a BT headset 2 or 3 years ago and I was nagging SWMBO to get
something similar. She doesn't like anything stuck in her ear (I don't
know why). I read about this and got one for her.

When I read about this, the article said it was only available at the
CPW, which is where I got it from. It also said it was £49.99 which is
what I paid - so how come the CPW web site now shows twice that price,
goodness knows. It was easy to set up, easy to use (with her Samsung
D500) and SWMBO likes it!

I'd say there were two downsides to it: To charge it requires a lead
from the cigar lighter, which (if it's mounted on the sun visor) is
hardly practical. (It's a mini-USB socket.) OTOH, its talk and standby
times are huge so that might not be a big problem. Secondly, it won't
interrupt the car audio.

It's fixed by a steel clip over the sun visor to which it attaches with
magnets so it's easily installed and easily portable. But the best bit
is that you're never tempted to walk around with it stuck in your ear!
