I'm having problems getting my N73 to communicate with my computer. I've
installed the PC Suite software, select the "Get Connected" option,
select Bluetooth and wait for it to find my phone which it does after a
few seconds.
Then it goes to the next stage where you have to authenticate the phone.
The default code is 123 so I click next and after a few moments I get
the error "Cannot authenticate the phone" and "Timeout occurred during
paring process" from the bluetooth adapter.
Why does it keep failing at this stage, isn't the phone supposed to ask
me for the code? It doesn't do anything at the moment.
I don't know if there is a problem with the phones bluetooth, but when I
search for devices it doesn't report my PC, even though it is set to
discoverable. The PC can find the phone easily, but not the other way
around.
My old N70 used to use the Bluetooth connection with PC Suite without
any problem.

I don't see how the PC Suite default can only be 3 digits then? Anyway,
I tired changing the default code to 1234 and still have exactly the
same problem.

Try pairing your phone using your BT software, as opposed to PC Suite. If it
is already paired, PC Suite should pick this up and immediately connect when
you select your phone from the list.
When you pair your phone, also make sure that you have "Serial Port" and
"Nokia PC Suite" connection types enabled for the connection, consult your
dongle's documentation if you are not sure how to do this.

I've had this problem with a Nokia 6111, it reported the errors but then
worked anyway. As another poster said, try pairing using Windows or "My
Bluetooth Places" (assuming you've got a Widcomm stack) - that's how I've
always done it.
Mind, I concluded a while ago (check out "Nokia 6111 PC Suite problem - and
various similar threads on the Nokia forums) that Nokia PC Suite is best
described as "buggy". Certainly far from stable.
Regards
Jon.
