Hi all,
Is the £1 a day for WnW capped to a data's worth of £1? What happens if you
go over a £1's worth? And can you opt in some days and not for others?
Thanks

Dunno, but someone told me they play World of Warcraft using it.

The best place for this info is T-Mobile's website, but I'll try and
explain what I know.
I pay ~£30/month for web n walk with a PCMCIA datacard. That includes a
fair useage of 3gigs a month. If they catch you goung over 3gigs they
say they'll get shirty and if you use it for VOIP they'll get shirty.
Apart from that they say do what you like. I have no idea if they
actively monitor either.
You can pay more to get a higher allowance and VOIP access.

Which is the wrong answer.....
If you don't have a data allowance, they bill the GPRS / 3G access at
their normal rate - £7.50/MB until you reach £1 spent, at which point
there is no further charge for data that day.
Technically you're not meant to use PAYG data with a laptop, but I
suspect they'd never pull you up over it unless you're taking the piss.

Re: T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk?
I only plan to use it for e-mail access on my PDA/phone - I have my email
(IMAP) configured on my device, and would only use it for that.
SteveH: I don't quite understand your reply - Is the data charge counted at
the standard rate up until the data reaches £1 worth (~136KB)? When I reach
£1, is it then unlimited (Within reason of an F/A UP?) or do I get charged
as normal (Credit taken from my PAYG Sim?

Yes, effectively, when you reach £1 worth, you no longer get charged.

No

You use it all day, and you just pay £1. That's what capping the cost
means.
>And can you opt in some days and not for others?
You can't opt in at all. It just happens.

Unless I've picked the wrong sort of SIM, T-mobile seem to be offering
them for 50p, including postage, at the moment.
I'm wondering about T-mobile W&W PAYG for linking a Nokia N800
Internet Tablet device to the Net when away from the home WLAN with
the N800 using a mobile phone as a modem via Bluetooth. I'm not sure,
though, whether that would be caught under the restriction that it's
not to be used for "modem access for computers" - I suppose it would,
although the N800 isn't likely to generate the same traffic as a
laptop.
If that sort of usage would be allowed, can anyone suggest a cheap
mobile phone that supports use as a modem via Bluetooth?
Mike.

Re: T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk?
OK guys, thanks for the replies. I was talking to my friend this morning as
he bought a Samsung D900 on o2 on Saturday, to take over from his S400i. I
told him that I was thinking about moving frrom o2 to TMob, and he did the
old mechanic's trick of sucking air in though his teeth and warned me not to
do it - Are TMob really that bad? Is their signal worse or better than o2?

In my experience marginally worse. But o2's data is so expensive it made
the drop in quality worth it for me.
Plus T-mobile's customer care is streets ahead of O2.

Re: T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk?
Interesting Geoff, thanks. I recieved a PAYG sim in the post this morning
and am contemplating switching over - I'm currently on o2 PAYG, and I get
300 free texts when I topup with £20 (About every 2 months) and send on
average about 200 messages every 6 weeks. With TMob's 3p/text rate, would
you say it was worth it? I would also use my Phone/PDA to sync my emails
occassionally when I find myself away from a PC with web access.
