Re: Carphone Warehouse 0870 scam exposed
Well, taking account of the bank holidays, they've had the letter
(signed for) for 11 WORKING days now, with out s'much as an quick call
or email to let me know they're looking into it.
Next step? CA, Watchdog or Trading Standards first?
I've just told Nokia in detail about my experience of that particular
Nokia Service Centre (within CPW), and it sounded like I wasn't the
first.

ok first point, you don't need to go all the way to reading for a
repair. a repair can be booked in at any cpw branch.
second. would it not be common sence to call cpw customer services on
the freephone number who would put you through to the repairs dept
straight away? you didnt need to call for "hours" on an 0870 number.
obviously if you try it a couple of times and it doesnt work then call
the customer services.
i fortunatly am someone who suffers from a rare condition called
common sence and realise that if i call any company, its best to call
an 0800 number or local rate number... understandably this is not
always advertised but when cpw put it on the very same receipt that
you got the 0870 number from?! it doesnt take a genius to realise what
number to use.

Your common sence (sic) has failed to inform you, however, that there is
no such thing as a local rate number. 0845, for example, often costs
more to call than a normal landline number (anywhere on the country).
The term is no longer allowed in advertising, I believe.

I think you missed the point.

I'd recheck that if I were you.

Wrong. Nokia send you to Nokia service centres. Not all CPW are NSC.
In fact, not many are.

You either didn't watch the video, or read the posting, or understand
anything.

OK, scan your receipt in - I've yet to see a CPW receipt that shows
local or freephone numbers.

I think what he means is that any branch can take the repair in, and
then forward it on to a repair centre-equipped branch to carry out the
work.

Well, I think it's time to try other avenues...
Second recorded letter has been with them for 2 working weeks, and
I've been cut off from the call centre twice!
Total contempt for the customer. Never seen anything like it. Not even
from NTL!

That company is a complete joke. The call centre near where I
work is constantly advertising for staff, the turnaround
must be amazing at that place, and who the hell would want to
work for them? I'd rather shovel ****e!
Good luck, let us know how you get on!

You'd fit right in then as all they appear to do is move **** around,
primarily downwards onto their customer base...
