Basically as the subject, my contract with Three is up next week, and I want
to stay with them, but their handset choice at present is abysmal. Does
anyone know if Three are getting the N95, or indeed any of the other N
    series handsets back in?

What is their fixation with Sony Ericsson phones?

I've asked them, but they don;t seem to know the answer...

    Many Thanks.

I called them about a week ago and their sales team suggested
that they were going to be releasing it, however, they didn't
    have a date.

Why do you think 3 don't have them?

You know about 3's standards of customer service, terms and conditions of
trading, business practices, web availability, sales techniques, how it
honours the deals that it does make, how accurately it renders bills and how
it modifies the phones it does distribute (e.g. by supergluing the SIM's
in). This group is full of posts from people who wouldn't take a[nother]
phone from Three if they gave them away free with corn flakes.

So if this is how customers get treated, how do you think it is for
    suppliers?

Nokia is marketing the N95 as the most technically advanced phone ever. It
will not want key features (like Wi-Fi and VOIP) slugged out of it leading
to customer dis-satisfaction with the phone, whereas conversely 3 will be
seeking to disable features that would erode revenue from chargeable
    services.

The other factor is that given Hutchinson's history of record losses etc.
Nokia will almost certainly want payment up front, probably part payment
    even before production.

More likely Nokia is just serving other networks first, confident in the
knowledge that whilst the phone might be branded it probably won't be
slugged, customer support will actually work, and they will get paid.

A bit unfair. It only superglues its heavily subsidised PAYG phones. They
have one of the most generous flat rate internet deals with X-Series. I have
had them 6 months and have had less problems than I had with O2.

Slightly harsh, I've got a Three contract phone and it's the best
network I've been with. Using an N95 on the X-Series tariff and nothing
is crippled, in fact it's the first time in a long time I've had a phone
that hasn't been crippled with branding (Orange I'm looking at you).

I think it could be that Three are sick of taking Nokia phones with
broken firmware and faulty handsets. I have no more evidence to back
this up than you do for your theory, but given the reported problems
with Nokia phones it wouldn't surprise me!

Everyone has an opinion about Three it would seem. I've been on contract
with them for the past 18 months, and never had a single billing error. The
honoured my first 6 months half price line rental, and have always been
helpful if I've had any issues with anything. As has been said before,
X-Series has to be one of the cheapest Internet access options via mobile
out there, and content wise (via Planet 3) I don't think anyone else comes
close (but then things would have changed in the past 18 months I suppose!)

At the moment I have a Nokia 6280, which I love, but it would appear that
all the other new Nokias that Three are offering don't actually have any
advances over the 6280. They have just changed the styling slightly. I'm
not having a Sony Ericsson, as while I agree that Nokia handsets can have
dodgy firmware (or is made dodgy by Three's branding) I have a greater
experience of Sony Ericsson's becoming paper weights when they turn off
never to turn back on again.

Thanks for the advice anyway all!

Really, how many phones do they have to vandalise before you change your
    opinion?

I bet if superglued your phone or car or house locks, you would call the
    police!

It is your choice to buy, they do not force it on you. If you don't like it
    don't buy it.

If you don't NEED a new phone and are willing to risk it then tell
    them you're switching to PAYG.
I did this (didn't really need the phone any longer) and 3/4 days
before my 30 days notice was up they offered me 500 mins any network
any time/100 txts per month for £20 (that's less than £2/month!)
No cashback etc.. just a massive credit applied to my account.

    Mark,

You do talk a load of rubbish.......

3 Give unlimited Sype calls on their X-Series (blows your theory on VOIP)

They do not Superglue all sims in. ( you can't slag them for protecting
    their revenues from free loaders)

We all know Nokia do great phones, but are famous for buggy software,
especially on "rushed out new products"
so again, you can not blame 3 for "testing" phones first.

I have just swapped over from Orange to 3 and I am very impressed with both
    Customer Service and Network.
Their online Account info is fantastic, hey I might be slagging them off in
the future, but if I do I will get my facts right.

    Jake.

Agreed. I have a Nokia N73 on the flext35 tariff and X-Series Silver with
    3. Very happy with the customer services (they have got better I have to
say) and the network (also much improved).

Only thing that annoys me are the occasional phone reboots whilst I'm on a
call. Unfortunately Nokia's firmware updater locks up on my XP box, which
I avoid using as much as possible anyway in favour of Ubuntu.

    I thought 3 didn't supply the n95? That's what I was told last week
in a 3 store - they said it was a software problem.
